Con-G: Part One!

Hello my freaky darlings and welcome to the first half of my two part Con-G cover!

Part 1 will be focusing more on specific pros and cons of the con while part 2 will be a  basic rundown of what happened while I was there!

BTW  just in case you don't know, Con-G is a 3 day convention in Guelph, Ontario that focuses on Anime

Who did you cosplay as?: Fiona from 'Adventure Time' and a girl in a poofy dress.

How many days did you attend for?: All 3 days

Most memorable event/moment:
Attending Geek Speed Dating (more details in part 2)

Most unexpected event/moment: Actually meeting a great guy at said speed dating

Most awkward event/moment: Seeing people I know but being unable to stop and chat with them

How much money did you spend?: I think 100 dollars

Best cosplay you saw: A chubby Asian guy dressed as PSY

How many pictures did you take?: Only around 20

Least favorite event/moment:Throwing up after I got home on Day 2 (not really con related)

How far did you travel in order to attend the con?:
From Cambridge to Guelph which is only around

How sad/happy were you when the con ended?: I actually felt just fine
Demon Dalek!

What variety of food did you eat over the weekend?: A hot dog on Friday, a protein shake on Saturday morning, Chinese food Saturday night and for breakfast on Sunday (SHUT UP!) and a nommy doughnut.

What did you buy?: 2 Necklaces, a new wig for my Stocking cosplay, a Wallet (which I desperately needed), a pair of earrings,

Things you won't miss: Almost getting run over my Daleks

And finally, what did you do when you got home from the convention?:
Had a shower and started blogging!

Con-G Cons:

  • The new space feels smaller than the last years, despite being larger
  • The large green Dalek, though awesome, took up way too much space while going through the halls
  • There wasn't enough outside locations for food
  • Not a lot of dealers in the Dealers Room
  • Not enough photoshoot locations
Con-G Pros:
  • Really well organized panels!
  • A lot cheaper than most cons - $30 versus the $60 for Anime North
  • A truly great first con for young con goers due to its simple layout
  • Probably the friendliest con-goers
  • Great time of the year: cold weather is great for a lot of cosplays
  • Great gaming (or so I have heard)
  • Lots of seating for relaxing

I am officially 21!

Hello my freaky darlings!

So I have just turned the big two one! That's right yesterday was my 21st birthday and I had a blast!

Now don't get me wrong I have a few great friends but I didn't spend my birthday with them, my family is just so much more important to me so I spent my day with them but anywho...on to the day!

One of the best parts of the day for me was waking up and seeing that we had gotten a real pile of snow overnight!
This was a huge deal for me as the last few years for my birthday it has been either rainy or just plain bleah outside!

Oh and btw, I actually have an outfit picture! It's my first one so please forgive the quality!
Hmmm...I think I need to clean that mirror though...

Anyway we headed out once we were all ready and went to our fave breakfast place, Cora's for delicious noms!

Sooooo goood! Not surprisingly I don't take calories too seriously...I love my body and that's good enough for me!

After breakfast we headed for a Curry's (which is an art store) so my sister could use her gift card from Christmas. Then we went to Chapters and EB Games, no I didn't buy anything.

At four we headed to my Dad's (though my parents are divorced they still get along really well so my Mom came to!) and this was the sight I was greeted to! My Dad is such a mush pie! He almost started crying when he saw me!

Dinner was my Dad's homemade burgers and french fries so everybody was super happy (which makes me happy) and we watched 'Despicable Me'.

No you are probably wondering, what did the birthday girl get as far as pressies?

I got prepaid Master Cards so I can go Internet shopping (squee!)

I also got more Funko POP's including a Sandor Clegane (aka the Hound), a White Walker (who glows in the dark), Gollum, a Darth Maul and a new skirt!

My absolute favorite gift though was the picture my sister drew for me! It's an entire page filled with chibi me's in different outfits for different series including a Team Fortress 2 me, a Pokemon me and a One Piece me!

(I promise to post pics of it once I hang it up on my wall!)

So yeah, overall it was an AWESOME birthday!

〜(^∇^〜)Oh and just to add to the birthday happiness - my Pokemon Black and White 2 game wished me happy birthday!(〜^∇^)〜

That was AWESOME!

Store Reviews

Hello my freaky darlings!

I am back (two posts in two days is craziness!) with something a little different.

Today I plan on reviewing a few websites that I have bought from in the past in my first ever product review!

Pinup Girl Clothing: http://www.pinupgirlclothing.com/
The waaaaay too short top
I absolutely adore this store (hey that rhymed). It has a great variety of retro, rockabilly shirts and tops – all made for ladies with curves (and if a 36F bust doesn’t count as curvy than I don’t know what does).
The first of the two tops is no longer sold on the site, which doesn’t surprise me as it was SUPER itchy which sucked considering I loved the neckline and the size was perfect. It was sent immediately to the local Salvation Army.
The second top is still sold on the site though I wish the ‘customer review’ option was there earlier as then I would have known not to order it. The top itself is adorable but it is waaaaay too short for my liking so I past it on to my Mom, who loves it and is short enough to wear it.
Shipping for the store is pretty slow but it was coming from Australia I think.
Despite this I would still recommend this site (crazy eh!) as the products are gorgeous and with the customer reviews now it is much easier to understand what you want.

The onsite picture of the cosplay
Cosplay Magic: http://www.cosplaymagic.com/
A lot of people complain about the quality of these costumes but in my opinion if you can’t sew than you can’t complain. I actually own one cosplay from this store (my Blair) and I was actually really pleased for the most part.
My only problem was, was that the waist was really high on me making it look a little like an empire waist which make me look pregnant so if and when I wear the costume again I will likely add a underbust corset to add some more shape.
Some of the more elaborate costumes can be reeeeeeally pricey (Lulu’s dress is a whopping $554.000). If your looking for a more simple costume though, and are willing to spend at least $120.00, then it’s an okay choice.

Doubleshop2008 / CosplayHolic: http://stores.ebay.ca/cosplayholic?_trksid=p4340.l2563
An Ebay seller and maker of my younger sisters 2011 Mr.9 cosplay. This seller is brilliantly talented and every detail of the cosplay was SPOT on which is saying something since my sister is a perfectionist. The seller also had a great level of communication which is great when getting something custom made.
The only problem with this shop is that the wigs are freakishly small and do not fit the heads of most normal people.

COCOSILVERHK – Cocplay-Gallery: http://stores.ebay.ca/COCOSILVERHK-Cocplay-Gallery?_trksid=p4340.l2563
This is the seller that I bought my Boa Hancock cosplay from (which I only ever posted pictures of on cosplay.com). Though I reeeeeeally regret wearing such a skimpy cosplay I have no complaints about the seller or the quality. Really the cosplay itself was freakishly beautiful and I loved it’s quality. The only problem with this seller is that you can’t get a custom size you have to go with the usual Small to X-Large.

Simply String Dolls: http://www.etsy.com/people/simplystringdolls?ref=ls_profile
An etsy seller whom I bought three adorable string dolls from (Jason Voorhees, Darth Maul and Pinhead). The quality of these little guys and gals are incredible and shipping was prompt and pricing great. The only problem with this seller is for some straaaange reason you can’t actually see his products on etsy. You actually have to be friends with him via facebook and ask personally.

Daphnenen: http://www.etsy.com/shop/daphnenen
Another etsy seller and creator of my absolutely beautiful purse. I’ve had my purse for just over ayear now and still haven’t had a single complaint or problem with it! The size is perfect, the quality is impeccable and the style, flawless! I would highly recommend going to this seller if your in the market for a purse.
