Choosing my Style

Hello my freaky darlings!

So as I have mentioned in past posts, I am indeed working on re-inventing my wardrobe and choosing a style. It's been a rather interesting process as I have been bouncing back and forth between a few styles so I figured that I would talk about that a bit today.

When I first started trying to choose a new style I was focused on creating a Rockabilly wardrobe. I love the sexuality of the Rockabilly style along with its curve friendly appeal. However after two poorly fitted shirts, I found myself feeling a tad disheartened so I backed away from that decision.

Romantic Goth
From there I headed into Romantic Goth territory - heavily inspired by bloggers like Suski from DesperateHell and MothMouth from Through the Looking Glass. However, I rather quickly realized how PRICEY it would be to create such a lace and corset filled wardrobe. Alongside that of course was also the fact that I am a plus-size chica so finding clothing in this style would be quite difficult on my budget.

Jayne Jezebelle
While admiring the beauty of these two bloggers I also found myself falling in love with Lolita fashion though from the begining I knew that it would be practically impossible to afford or stick to such a strict fashion so I moved off to more casual lolita, inspired by gorgeous lovelies on Tumblr and blogging beuts such as SaryWalrus from The Walrus Room and CatacombxKitten who writes Graveyard Picnic.

To this day I still consider Casual Lolita quite often as a new fashion.
Asu Rocks

From Casual Lolita I moved to Casual Goth as illustrated by the talented Asu Rocks. I rather quickly decided though that while this style looks smashing on her, on my curvy frame I would look way to immature and I moved on to -

Stephiee N
Pastel Goth, but this was a VERY short infatuation as I realized that I would have to die my gorgeous red hair to real suit the style (EEP!)

As soon as this love affair ended I moved on to greener pastures - or rather I moved onto more kitschy pastures as I fell in love with Gothabilly, a love I still struggle with.

What's a girl to do? Any suggestions freaklings?

Bodyline

Hello my freaky darlings!

So today I'm going to be talking about my newest web-session : BODYLINE!

My new obsession with lolita fashion has led me to exploring around for not too pricey lolita clothing stores that offer larger size ranges for ladies, like myself, who have lovely lady lumps.
Death by bows!

The main 2 sites I found were Fanplusfriend and Bodyline.

Both of these sites have a good variety of sizes (though I think Fanplusfriend has a wider variety) and some seriously lovely pieces.

However, I have heard some seriously questionable reviews for Fanplusfriend so Bodyline definitely became more trustworthy in my eyes (especially after watching tons of reviews on Youtube and reading a lot of reviews).

Mainly I have found myself being completely obsessed with their more gothic and kuro lolita based items.

Some of the stuff is a little too bow attacked for my liking but from what I have heard, the bows are very easy to remove.

I have also come to realize that the size I would need, 4L (yeah I can admit that) doesn't come in a lot of the items, but that doesn't bother me too much since that way I won't go and buy EVERYthing.

Things that come in 4L (and I actually like)

L378
L161
L135
L379
L348
L110

The only sad thing is how DAMN hard it is to find nice skirts in 4L.

And a few Bodyline tips
  • When it doubt go a size up - it's easier to get something tightened then to loosen something
  • Be careful with shoe sizes - the shoes are in Japanese size which are very different
  • If it looks like cheap lace it probably is
  • If it looks costumey (as in Halloweeny not cosplay-ee) then don't buy it
  • Black and a lot of white lace are usually not a good bet

Wardrobe Haul Post

Hello my freaky darlings!

So one of my five New Years resolutions is to develop my own style. Style is a topic that has been on my mine a lot lately and I have switched between multiple style decisions as of late.

But while searching through the magical inter webs I came across the Wardrobe haul posts of Sary Walrus of The Walrus Room, VelvetBat of Bats and Bunnies, and Mary Rose of The Everyday Goth.

All 3 of these bloggers did Wardrobe haul posts of their own, while following an example first laid out by Woxje and I figured that it would be a good way too go about my purchasing decisions (especially with all my prepaid cards burning a hole in my lovely purse)!

So first up was to look at colours!

Not surprisingly my first and major colour is black which is pretty much a staple in my daily and more formal wardrobe. The jewel toned blue, red, purple and green are always great for a pop of colour as is the pink which is my favorite colour. White and grey are both just nice accent colours.

Kitschy prints! Kitschy prints everywhere! Oh how I love some good kitsch in my daily life (particularly for skirts).

Pixel Jewellery - I have recently decided to take up the hobby of making perler bead jewellery and I am sooo excited to express my geekery though my handmade jewellery.

High-waisted Skirts - High-waist skirts are just so flattering when one has a wee bit of a tummy like myself.

Cardigans - I am always cold! And with cardigans I can mix and match outfit looks to create new styles

Waist cinching belts - Great for adding definition and to show off the fact that I have an hourglass shape (also make great pops of colour).

Plunging Necklines - My own arrogance towards my breasts is the main reason (other than price) which keeps me from ever fulling exploring my love for the lolita fashion. So I will add more plunging necklines to my wardrobe!

Poofy styled skirts - I got a lovely red swing skirt recently and it has made my realize how much happier I am in

Gothy hair accessorie - My hair really suits ribbon and flower clips

Lolita Dresses - I really do love lolita dresses and I wouldn't mind adding a few either bittersweet or gothic dresses to my wardrobe (likely Fanplusfriend, Bodyline, or Ebay)
